Thursday, August 29, Shelby MT

We really enjoyed the Badlands in Theodore Roosevelt National Park.  We liked them better then the ones in SD.  We did a whole lot of driving the past 2 days but finally made it to Shelby MT.  We will be entering Canada in the morning after a good night of sleep in the Comfort Inn.  This was one of our scheduled nights in a motel.  If I had known it would be this hot, in the 90's every day, I may have considered some more nights in the air conditioning.  Lets just say sleeping in the car was more difficult this trip.  We are looking forward to more seasonable temps in Canada.

Monday, August 26, Indiana Dunes State Park

Today we drove to Indiana Dunes State Park, which is on the southernmost tip of Lake Michigan.  We hiked the hardest trail in the park (temps. were near 90 degrees)  The park rangers tried to talk us out of it by telling us how hard it is.  Two steps forward and then you slide back one.  They didn't realize that just fueled our desire to prove that we could do it.  We did:)
Sunday we started the day watching a  monster 10 point buck from Mart and Ferne's deck.  Ended the day by nearly getting run over by a huge bull elk at the Bennezette Elk County visitors center.  This was just built and is really quite impressive.  We recommend it!

Getting ready

We are excited to begin our next adventure. August 23 - September 14 we will be traveling again in our Car-V, this time traveling a more northern route into Canada, Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, Yoho and Waterton Lakes National Parks.  We will come home through Glacier National Park and visit Hell's Canyon, Tetons, and Rocky Mountain National Parks.  We will try to post pictures and show some of the things we are doing.  If you want to follow along check this blog occasionally to see what we are up to.  Richard and Ann
